When speaking with potential clients for the first time, I let them know that I won’t be happy unless they believe that, at the end of the event, I overdelivered for them. I want them to know that this is part of my business model.

The best people to ask about how to overdeliver are the potential clients themselves. Ask them what overdelivering would look like. Does it mean showing up early and leaving late? Does it mean making key people feel important during the event? I ask because I care.

I am a partner in helping my clients create the events they want to create. I can bring an expertise that they don’t have. I’m prepared to do so.

If the talent you’re interviewing doesn’t ask you about this, then you may want to keep looking.
