Throughout the country, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Centers implement a special program annually known as “National Salute” during the week of February 14. The National Salute Program was established as an official program in March of 1978. The purpose of the program is to pay tribute and express appreciation to America’s Veterans, increase community awareness and the role of the medical center, and encourage citizens to visit hospitalized Veterans and to become involved as Volunteers.
I will be volunteering a cabaret performance at the VA New Jersey Health Care System, Lyons Campus, Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 7:00 p.m.
This program is a unique, interactive role-playing piece of theater in which magician Mark Zacharia, in the role of detective, helps his audience discover whodunit.
“It was truly a pleasure meeting you at the [Motor City Close-Up] magic conference. It will a privilege to offer you my highest words of praise. Your performance was exquisitely scripted and choreographed; I admire the way you expertly involved the audience and made them feel part of the enjoyable show.”–Suresh Seshan
The Motor City Close-Up Convention is an incredible convention! The room is filled with enthusiastic attendees. John Luka has gone to great lengths to accommodate his attendees, including providing a rake steep enough to allow the audience members to be able to see over the heads of the people in front of them. I’m told this is the largest dealer turn-out for this convention to date. During last night’s opening-night performances, Kaiona Harbottle owned the room with his charming personality and other-worldly coin work; Darwin Ortiz delivered vintage Ortizian card work; Garrett Thomas fried everyone with his penetrating ring and stand-up Monte effects. This really is magic the way it is supposed to be seen.
